The Power of Flowers in your home or business.
How flowers can live for ever in your home.
As we all know Chelsea flower is in full bloom at the moment and I’m sad that I cant be there to take in the aroma of those freshly cut flowers.
We are also supporting mental health week in the UK as well and there is proven research that flowers can help with mental health. They not only help ease anxiety but they also bring other benefits.to our home and get this they can help us to be more productive.. Especially great having flowers in an office we all need a little productivity in our business.
For me nothing beats having flowers in your home. The smell is invigorating and reminds us of what our lovely planet can produce. There are so many ways to bring flowers to the home and today I would like to give you some inspiration on how to bring them into your home and business. With a few tips.
Try not to stick with the same flower, experiment with them. I have so many favourites its easy to rotate them and especially as some are seasonal. Go for a flower that you wouldn’t usually choose.
Going to a florist allows you to choose your own bunch and it’s perfect way to show your style. Something I really believe everyone should be proud of.
Cut Sunflowers are available between May and September.
Tip # 2
Place them in a focal point. Somewhere like a fireplace or bay window. Even beside your Tv. Flowers are there to be admired and looked at not put in a corner and forgotten about.
Like my gladioli’s in the picture, it ‘s lovely seeing them change everyday, going from complete Green stalks to an array of colour and there are a few to choose from.
Cut Gladioli are available from June or July then straight through until October/November.
Another of my favourites has got to be the Tulip and wow do they come in an amazing array of colours.
I see so many tulips with the famous old droop, to eliminate this when you buy them lay them on the worktop and get a pin or needle. Gently push a hole in the stem straight the way through and just under the flower head itself.. It does feel like your damaging them but your not. There are other ways to help prevent this but I was told this to do this by a little old lady in M&S the days when I was a visual merchandiser in the home section. It’s something I have never forgotten and always do. As well as making sure the vase is tall enough to give support as well.
Cut Tulips are available usually for most of the year.
Don’t forget the pin prick
Always check your flowers weekly or every few days, make sure the water is still fresh and doesn’t need changing. Its so ugly seeing beautiful flowers but with grotty cloudy and sometimes smelly water. Always take the dead ones out again. Especially if you run a business and they are on show to your clients or customers. Keeping them tidy really gives off the impression that everything matters in your business.
Sometimes you will have a variety of flowers in the vase that all die around the same time but some of the others are healthy. I just pull them out and reduce the size of the vase. In some cases I’ve ended up using a pint glass because i can’t bear to throw away something that is still alive. You can pick these little mini milk bottles which are perfect for the surviving flowers.
You can find these cute mini milk bottles on Etsy, to check them out just click on the link below and search mini milk bottle.
