Sometimes it is the smaller details and updates that can make the biggest impact, as well as add value to your home.

A kitchen renovation is probably one of the most costly projects that you can take on, but often one of the most popular. The kitchen tends to be a room that is highly used within the house and can also be a place to host guests for dinner and drinks, so no wonder it is always at the top of the priority list. However, there are plenty of impactful, and cost-effective ways to spruce up your kitchen, and one of the best ways to do this is to update your kitchen cupboards. It will just take a little bit of your time, and some paint. Dismantle the cupboards, clean them, and if necessary, give them good sand down and a fresh coating of protection. You can then repaint them with the original colour, or opt for a brand new colour to make a statement.

Upcycling has become a popular trend in recent years, just a simple Google search and you will find a plethora of different ideas, and tutorials to help get you started. Upcycling is the process of taking old items and repurposing them. You can do this with items around your house if you believe they are worn out or thinking of throwing them out. Alternatively, you can head to local thrift shops to see which old furniture is going for free, or for a very small price. They typically cost so little because they are unwanted items that require work. These items can be anything from storage units, side units, repurposed drawers, and reupholstered chairs, for example. The great thing about upcycling is that you can completely personalise the item to your taste or interior decor, or create something unique.

Renovating each room can be costly, but the simple act of updating the fixtures and fittings around each room can make a huge change. It is often the small details that make the biggest difference, and if your fixtures and fittings are looking old and worn down, then switching them out can modernise the space. Opt for something that fits with the design, or something different and bold, that will stand out, for example, brass fixtures. 

#4 Accessorise 

There are a plethora of different ways that you can accessorise your home on a budget, and make an impactful difference. Here are some popular ideas that may spark some inspiration:

  • Look online or head to a local charity shop and see what kind of second-hand items you can purchase, these will be much more affordable, meaning you can purchase more and still not break the bank
